It’s a weird feeling putting faces to voices, since I had only heard their album. However, one thing I’ve truly realized in this business is that musicians are just people. I walked into the green room of the Public Assembly in Brooklyn for the unofficial start of the Boston to Austin tour with eager anticipation. The fellas in Carlon and I went through proper introductions like kindergarten icebreakers.
Right off the bat, I got a grasp of who these guys were individually and they accepted me equally as quick as we ripped through a round of Jack Daniels shots. I slammed down the empty glass with a naive sigh of relief that the worst was over and, simultaneously I was thinking to myself, I could get used to life on the road. Boy was I wrong—on both accounts.
