Sam Lessin of Drop.io runs the Y+30 meet up group. He contacted me and the rest of SoundCtrl to help him brainstorm questions and promote their event TOMORROW with Lyor Cohen, CEO of Warner Music Group. My top five questions that Jesse Kirshbaum didn’t initially think of were the following:
- What’s your justification for having 360 deals and would you sign one if you were in a band?
- What do you see as the main filters in the industry?
- What’s your opinion on the Ticketmaster/Live Nation merger?
- How do you define the record industry vs. the music industry?
- If you left your job tomorrow, would you stay in music? Why or why not?
The other event coming up is SoundCtrl’s Social Media Week event entitled Social Media Currency (note: register for the event here). It’s being held at the old Tower Records on 4th and broadway on February 3 from 6-11pm.

For the time being, there’s a really chill art exhibit going on there called Never Can Say Goodbye, but they’ve been kind enough to let us use the spot for our event. Hope you guys can make it. Press…feel free to drop me an email at soundctrlblog[at]gmail.com.
