5 New Bands (4/5)

5 04 2010

Everything is Made in China – You can tell they’re obviously trying to sound like Radiohead, but it’s still damn good.  After all, who knows, they may evolve into some unknown territory with their next record that blows our minds away.

Here We Go Magic – Very rustic, lo-fi sounding pop that’s often ambient post-rock sounding.  Everything’s Big is my new favorite song (for the time being).

Moonlit Sailor – What can I say, I’ve been a huge post-rock binge.  Check these guys out for sure.  This Swedish band sounds like their band name infers.

Tyler Ramsey – Neal Casal was to Ryan Adams as Tyler is to Band of Horses.  A hired gun that’s using a rising band as a platform to expose his own music.  At times, his voice sounds similar to Tim Smith from Midlake, but with folky southern twang.

White Denim – Hands down…the biggest surprise for me during SXSW.  They rock!!!

If you think your band should be featured for 5 New Bands, please send me a track using the amazing Soundcloud (note:  look at top right of this page and click on the Soundcloud image).

New album and record label for Band of Horses

1 04 2010
After two albums with Sub Pop, Band of Horses are switching to Fat Possum (home of The Black Keys and Andrew Bird).  Their new album, Infinite Arms is out May 18.
To help promote the record, they’re streaming their new single “Compliments”, which is accompanied by weird, but cool visuals of nature.  This campaign has Topspin written all over it.
